Western Days through the Years
Pre 1997:
The years leading up through 1996, Saint Simeon’s staff had an annual “Western Days” picnic and party for Residents, Families, and Staff.
June 7, 1997
Saint Simeon’s Auxiliary, working with staff, turns the annual picnic into a small fundraiser. Proceeds for privacy curtains, bedspreads, and mini blinds in the Health Care Center.

1999 - Western Days Fiesta
Proceeds for the front entrance gate and fencing.

September 30, 2000 –Western Days in Ol’ Tulsey Town
Proceeds for assist door openers, remodeling of Health Care Center bathrooms, an outdoor grill, and other activity items for Adult Day Services, and additional wrought-iron fencing for the Home. Attendance is over 225.

September 29, 2001 – Ridin’ The Rails to Ole Tulsey Town
Proceeds for a 14-passenger wheelchair-accessible van for the Home. Attendance is approximately 250.

October 5, 2002 – Oil Patch Blowout
Saint Simeon’s Foundation assumes the leadership role for planning Western Days and creating small sponsorship levels. Proceeds for magnifier visual reader with color monitor in Assisted Living, two low-pressure beds in the Health Care Center, and two patio, entry-way canopies. Attendance is over 250.

September 27, 2003 – Oil Baron’s Bash
Proceeds for dining area renovations in the Memory Center, upgraded lighting, wood-look flooring, and decorative trim in Resident rooms in the Health Care Center. Additional sponsorship levels are being added and will remain a primary focus in all future years. Attendance grows to over 300.

October 4, 2004 – The Wildcatter Blowout
Proceeds for Health Care Center common living area improvements, renovations to the Memory Center dining areas, large-print books, an aviary for Assisted Living and Health Care Center Residents, CD players, music CDs, and videos. Attendance is approximately 350.

September 26, 2005 – Gusher Gubilee:
Proceeds to help fund the $3.2MM Health Care Center Modernization project, Life Enrichment activities and services and Resident Benevolent Fund. Attendance is 475.

September 25, 2006 – Roughneck Round-up
Proceeds for 2 low-pressure beds, replacement wheelchair accessible van, patio and arbor for the Health Care Center courtyard, aviary for the Memory Center, landscape beautification, garden shed, resting station benches in hallways, indoor garden system, Life Enrichment activities and services, and Resident Benevolent Fund. Attendance is over 500.

September 24, 2007 – The Oil Patch Party of the Century
Proceeds to help furnish the $22MM Our Next Chapter Assisted Living and Wellness Centers project and Life Enrichment activities and services for the Home and Adult Day Services participants. Attendance exceeds 500, and we have outgrown the 15,000 sq. ft. tent.

September 16, 2008 – The Driller’s Bash
Proceeds helped fund landscaping for the new Assisted Living, the purchase of a new vehicle for Resident transportation, three whirlpool bathing tubs, low beds for Residents, and a variety of medical equipment items. Also, $60,000 will assist with the $2MM Memory Center Renovation. Western Days moves from the Home parking lot, under a large tent, to the 35,000 sq ft Central Park Hall at EXPO Square. Attendance is 550. As a result of the event moving off-site, we host the 1st Annual Resident Western Party in the Home Common Room. The Resident party was underwritten by Robin Ballenger.
