Western Days through the Years
Pre 1997:
In the years leading up to 1996, Saint Simeon’s staff had an annual “Western Days” picnic and party for Residents, Families, and Staff.
June 7, 1997
Saint Simeon’s Auxiliary, working with staff, turns the annual picnic into a small fundraiser. Proceeds for privacy curtains, bedspreads, and mini blinds in the Health Care Center.

September 25, 1998 Proceeds for the tile in the Health Care Center and stained glass windows in the Common Room. Chairperson: Allison Cotton
1999 - Western Days Fiesta Proceeds for the front entrance gate and fencing. Chairperson: Allison Cotton
September 29, 2001 – Ridin’ The Rails to Ole Tulsey Town Proceeds for a 14-passenger wheelchair-accessible van for the Home. Attendance is approximately 250. Co-Chairpersons: Karen Garren and Linda Furman
October 5, 2002 – Oil Patch Blowout Saint Simeon’s Foundation assumes the leadership role for planning Western Days and creating small sponsorship levels. Proceeds for magnifier visual reader with color monitor in Assisted Living, two low-pressure beds in the Health Care Center, and two patio, entry-way canopies. Attendance is over 250. Chair: Marilyn Morris
September 27, 2003 – Oil Baron’s Bash Proceeds for dining area renovations in the Memory Center, upgraded lighting, wood-look flooring, and decorative trim in Resident rooms in the Health Care Center. Additional sponsorship levels are being added and will remain a primary focus in all future years. Attendance grows to over 300. Chair: Marilyn Morris
September 25, 2006 – Roughneck Round-up Proceeds for 2 low-pressure beds, replacement wheelchair accessible van, patio and arbor for the Health Care Center courtyard, aviary for the Memory Center, landscape beautification, garden shed, resting station benches in hallways, indoor garden system, Life Enrichment activities and services, and Resident Benevolent Fund. Attendance is over 500. Chair: Fr. Jack Powers Honorary Chairs: Mary Ann Hille and Maggie Hille Yar
September 24, 2007 – The Oil Patch Party of the Century Proceeds to help furnish the $22MM Our Next Chapter Assisted Living and Wellness Centers project and Life Enrichment activities and services for the Home and Adult Day Services participants. Attendance exceeds 500, and we have outgrown the 15,000 sq. ft. tent. Chair: Ann Shannon Cassidy Honorary Chairs Bob and Mille Millspaugh
September 15, 2009 – The Driller’s Bash Proceeds helped to fund a $1.5MM renovation of the Home’s Memory Center. Attendance exceeds 600. The 2nd Annual Resident Western Days party, underwritten by Robin Ballenger, was held in the Common Room. September 14, 2010 – The Golden Anniversary Gusher: Proceeds for Unrestricted use and a new endowed Employee Recognition Program. Additional funds were raised for specific activities and items for Residents and animals. Attendance exceeds 650. The 3rd Annual Resident Western Days party, underwritten by Robin Ballenger, was held in Common Room.
