Originally from Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Austin Dixon has taken a non-traditional route into a country music career. He spent his late teens and early 20s pursuing an education in meteorology, first obtaining his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2017, then completing his master's in Atmospheric Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019. This pursuit was driven by a fascination with tornadoes that began after a historic tornado outbreak in Oklahoma on May 3rd, 1999. When Austin isn't on the road playing music, he is also currently in the final years of a PhD in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. Clearly, country music was not the original path forward. However, it has always been the dream.
